Is Protein A present on the Staphylococcus saprophyticus cell wall too? - (Dec/02/2013 )
Hello,
Could someone please let me know whether the Staphylococcus saprophyticus cell wall expresses protein A, the same as what exist on Staphylococcus aureus cell wall? I would very much appreciate your help.
Thanks

Check: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16135568
if needed you can check the genome yourself for presence of the protein A (spa gene).
However: taken that the protein a (or the gene) is used to identify S. aureus , you can be pretty sure its not present in S. saprophyticus.
As far as I know, it is not present in S. saprophyticus.

Great idea! I blast the two sequnces against each other...looks like as you also mentioed S. saprophyticus does not express the protien A. on the cell wall...Thanks a lot for your help! :)
