DNA extraction , phenol , ice . plz help ! - (Oct/13/2013 )

hi every one , i wanna know why we put our solution on ice after we add phenol to it .  

any help is appreciated

As far as I know there isn't any need to ice during the phenol step (unless perhaps you are working on something with a lot of DNases).  I have done many a DNA phenol extraction where the only time I would use ice is during the DNA precipitation.

You do not need to keep on ice you get better separation at RT. Even for  precipitation RT works better.
