Question: How to differentiate siRNAs and mature miRNAs in plant by Northern blo - (Sep/08/2013 )
After virus infection, the gene silencing will generate lots of virus-siRNAs, but also there are some host mature miRNAs in the host plant, how to differentiate the virus-generated-siRNAs and host mature miRNAs by Northern blot?

If they are different in sequence, Northern should be able to tell them apart.

Thanks for your reply, if the sequences are different, then I should using different probes to detect siRNAs and mature miRANs separately, right? But how come if the virus can also generate miRNAs?
Thanks.

Yes, it is the probe which tells them apart, not their size.
