I understand the concept of antigen processing and antigen presentation .Also what synapse is but how is it linked to fight against diseases.

Well, think about what is the function of antigen processing and presentation by immune cells. And what are the consequences ? I think when you read about the consequences/reactions that take place in the immune system after these processes, it becomes clear how it helps fighting off an infection.
