Cost of Sequencing by Post - (Aug/02/2013 )

Hello all,

I have a question for those of you who send their samples away for DNA sequencing.  Whom are you using, and what does it roughly cost?

Thanks in advance.

Well.... one important "detail" is missing: what are you sequencing? (whole genome? Insert in a plasmid....?)

Without this information its almost impossible to state how much it would cost.

For example: sequencing an insert in a known plasmid vector can be done for +- 5 us dollar.

I agree with pito, cost/per run for sequencing pcr products, plasmids is around $5 USD nowadays.

Sorry,

I'm sequencing plasmid DNA

Insert in a known plasmid or a entire plasmid? (new plasmid? known plasmid with some adaptation...? )

Normally it should not cost too much.

For standard DNA sequencing:  We pay 4,40 EUR for prepaid barcodes and 3,90 EUR per sample for 96-well plates from Eurofins.  In the US, Genscript is probably quite inexpensive: http://www.genscript.fr/sequencing.html?src=pullmenu

Thanks for all of the info.  It is a known plasmid with no adaptiations.

Well, like said .. 5 dollars will do the trick..
And to find a company: just google it... there are many companies out there and I have no idea what would be the best for you..

(where do you live for example...? what exactelly is it that you need.. dont be afraid to contact companies and ask them... some will even offer special prices for new users...)

And think about the big players out there too.. they are often very cheap too and can do it fast...
