STOCK SOLUTION - (Jul/25/2013 )
Hi everybody,
If I have a powder supplement ( 50mg for 5 l media). What does it mean, that my supplement should be reconstituted in 5ml redist water to get a 1000 x conc. stock solution?
How much powder do I need to get 5ml of 1000x stock solution?
How to prepare this stock solution?
Than I need to use 100µl 1000x stock solution for 100ml medium.
Can anybody help??
Thank you!!!

Almost everything seems to make sense and is just as you suggested in your first post. You take the entire 50mg, add 5mL of water, and this is your 1000X stock. So you can dilute the entire 5mL to 5L if you need that much medium right away. Otherwise you freeze the 5mL in aliquots. So make 1mL aliquots if you're going to be making up 1L of medium at a time. The part that doesn't make sense is the "Reconstitution" section where they indicate to use 50uL of the 1000X stock in 100mL of medium. I imagine this is a mistake, but you should call technical support to be certain.
Thank you very much for your help.
Now I must find what final concentration I should make.
