T cells or Lymphocytes? - (May/28/2013 )
Hi bioforumers
I know it is not the right place but I did not know where to put this
I know that the percentage of t cells is about 60-70% in blood but I need a paper or some books for citation
Another question is that we used to say B cells and T lymphocytes/ cells, when I write T cells my doctor erase it and write lymphocytes, why?
my doctor is on leave so I can not ask her.
many thanks and appreciated for help
As for the first question, this info should be citeable from a normal hematology or immunology textbook. Also, this looks like something that would be in the introduction part of a review on that topic, so all in all there should be no trouble to find a reliable source.
Regarding the second question, well, "lymphocytes" is a more specific and precise scientifc term than "cells"...

Perhaps the figures you are quoting refer to lymphocytes in general and not T lymphocytes specifically, so that is why she has corrected you?
T cell or T lymphocyte is more specific.
Lymphocytes include B cells and NK cells also.
