RNA extraction - (May/01/2013 )

Which plant (Arabidopsis) material to use for RNA extraction for checking gene expression through Q-RT?
Seedling or vegetative tissue?
If one has to check the expression of a gene which is expressed during the vegetative stage of development, which tissue should be the choice of plant material. obviously it will be vegetative tissue but, when does one extract RNA from seedlings and when does one extract RNA from vegetative tissue (leaves) ?
What are the advantages of extracting RNA from seedlings? Most paper i saw had extracted from seedlings, I can't figure out why dont they use leaves instead of seedlings. Can someone please answer me?

Thanks

The only method that can extract RNA from frozen whole blood collected in common anticoagulants is the AquaPreserve method. You will be surprised at how stable blood RNA is in whole blood samples stored at -80 or -20 C for years.
