hi guys, no need to be sorry I don't know the reasons why they rejected me or whether my supervisor's words were absolute truth (which normally they were not ) It is not something that takes the sleep away from me but it would have been useful if I had asked why, which I didn't...

Anyway, I'm sure something will come up, in the meantime I'll be looking for more jobs and also enjoying my enforced holidays

that's the spirit tjcito....the perfect job is out there with your name on it..... you just have to find it....meanwhile enjoy the holidays....

But seriously though, you can always ask for feedback once your application gets rejected but recruiters are not obliged to do this or give a reason why they didn't choose you so you just move on and keep on looking. And with every interview, you learn a lot so eventually you get better at it...

Goodluck to the both of you (you and Tray) ...

Here they are...

So in canada they dont need to give a reason?
Seems a bit weird.

nope, the 'default' reason they usually give is that they selected a more suitable applicant for the job (whatever that means) and you would be lucky if they give you more details...but more often than not, they will just inform you that you have not been selected and wish you good luck on your postdoc search....so what the "rejected" applicant has to do is to first thank the recruiter for the interview opportunity and to keep him/her in mind in case other opportunities arise in their lab/company etc

hahaha, thanks guys how's things in the true north cas?
@tray: is there any way that you can check out the lab members in that prof's group? maybe on their webpage? i applied for a postdoc at cimmyt in november. they haven't selected candidates yet, so who knows, sometimes these processes take a long time! is there any phone number where you can call them? I'd do that...
