northern cross-linking question - (Dec/30/2012 )

After the transfer, i accidentally dropped the blot into the pre-hyb solution for a few seconds, before realizing i didn't cross-link.
I quickly took out the membrane to cross link. but am wondering if i should even bother to continue now because the pre-hyb solution contains SDS as well as salmon sperm...
i'm afraid of the sds because it may have washed my RNA samples off the blot
and i'm afraid of the salmon sperm because that got all over the membrane and is now cross-linked to the membrane....

any insights?

are you using a charged nylon membrane? if so then the blot should be okay.
