Due to which reason(s) is a competitive ELISA more sensitive than a sandwich ELISA?

A competitive immunoassay is more sensitive to matrix issues. In contrast to sandich, in copetitive elisa the matrix effect contributes to the increasment of sensitivity during the competition step.
