IVF Procedure - (Jun/26/2012 )
In IVF procedure,is it possible to use IVF media to acheive blastocyst stage, reason is because Universal IVF media was used to culture the fertilised oocyte, the cell divided(went through cleavage). Is it possible for dis divided cell to get to the blastocyst stage without me using the blastocyst media.I mean can i continue to use the Universal IVF media to acheive my blastocyst stage before transferring the embryo to the uterus.Pls opinion or suggestions wod be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in anticipation
As far as I remember, we sometimes used the same media in both stages, but it is not recommended. We bought SAGE media and used as follows:
Embryo culture
After collection of the egg and sperm from the couples,
in vitro fertilization was done by ICSI into the oocyte. Each
embryo was cultured in a single droplet of SAGE Quinn’s
Advantage Cleavage media (CooperSurgical, Trumbull, CT,
USA) supplemented with 10% serum protein substitute (SPS)
from day 1 to day 3. At day 3, the fertilized egg was checked
under an inverted microscope and then it was transferred into
SAGE Quinn’s Advantage Blastocyst media supplemented
with 10% SPS until day 5/6.
