Storage of tissue at -80 followed by a breif unthaw prior to extraction - (Apr/16/2012 )
Hello all,
I have some plant root tissues that I would like to store at -80 for future RNA extractions. I was wondering if It was ok to store the tissue at -80, then quickly transfer it to a homogenization tube prior to extraction? This would probably unthaw the tissue somewhat. Would this pose a risk to my RNA?
Thanks in advance!

Potentially it may cause some degradation. If you have access to dry ice or LN2 you could try grinding the tissue in the frozen state, which should prevent this problem.
