are THP-1 Cells(Monocytes) or Macrophage cell culture resistant to Mycoplasma infection or other bacterial infections?
Personally, I can NOT belive that they are resistant to bacterial and mycoplasma infections, because there are lot of diseases related to mycoplasmas.
No, they are not resistant. I don't know of any cell line that is. You need the whole immune system to fight infections, not just monocytes!
Provide them with evidence - a quick google search found this paper as the first link:

Do you routinely add pooled immunoglobulins to your culture? If so, this would work, but if you don't (e.g. if you use heat treated FCS) then it won't work, it is relying on the activation of the macrophages by the immunoglobulins.
Relevant sentence from paper (empahsis mine): "Successful elimina-
tion of mycoplasmas in all cell fines and experi-
ments (confirmed over 4 weeks following decon-
tamination) could only be observed when 10%
pooled human immunoglobulin was added to the
co-culture with human BM-derived macrophages."
