Interview with an old labmate? - (Mar/10/2012 )
I am going to an interview to work in a molecular biology project ,The PI was an old labmate who did his Phd and left the lab 6 years ago.
Please help me with interview tips. Will he focus on science or personality questions???????????

Depends on how your relationship was lol.
Normally he shouldnt focus on the fact you knew/know him (and be objective). But we are al humans, so it should be a more "smooth" interview.
But changes are high he will ask you to tell him what "changed" during the years, what did you learn, etc...
ANyway, I doubt anyone here can really tell yo what exactly to expect.
the other thing that can happen is that the expectations from you are higher than from other candidates. e.g. i know two brothers that work together in the same company, big brother is the boss of little brother, but instead of being easy on him he puts more workload, or at least did at first, so that people wouldn't think there was any kind of preference for him and that little brother deserved that job.
anyway, personal things shouldn't be bad to talk about, but i wouldn't expect the interview to be based on that. good luck.
