Plasmid isolation Qiagen - (Jan/03/2012 )

Plasmid isolation - hi all. Anyone ever tried isolating a plasmid using a Qiagen gel extraction kit? I have all mini prep buffers from qiagen kit but am out of columns. I don't really have time to wait for a new kit to arrive and I'm considering just using a gel extraction column. Anyone ever tried that before?

You also can regenerate the old ones, if you kept them. There are commercial solutions for this (eg from this company) and also hand-made protocols with self-made solutions. I don't remember the protocols, but a search here or with google should give some results.

The columns are the same in both kits, except (possibly) for the color.
