precipitates in 50X TAE - (Nov/16/2011 )

i recently made 50X tae buffer and i notice some precipitates. is it normal??

Hi Kshanik,

No, it should not.

It may be EDTA ppts.

If you have added EDTA as solution then just check your EDTA reagent bottle or its pH.

or if you have added solid then its again pH a problem.

I would recomend you to prepare fresh EDTA 0.5M pH 8.0, and prepare TAE freshly.

As its better to throw doubtful reagent than spoiling experiment.
