a gene expressed in 293 cell lines but not Hela cells - (Sep/15/2011 )

Hi Everyone,

Recently, i am working on some genes expression in a particular cancer.

I found that a gene is upregulated after certain drug treatment in that particular cancer.

and i design a pair of primers for this gene and clone the gene by using the cDNA of Hela cells and also the 293 cells.

Yet the desired band only appear in 293 cells and not appear in Hela cells.

Since i seldom work with cells, i was wondering if this has any implications on the gene function of that gene in that particular cancer.

Millions THX!!!

It probably has more to do with tissue specific gene expression - 293 is kidney cells and A549 is epithelial cells.
