Protein extraction efficiency - (Sep/09/2011 )

HI everyone,

I'm willing to do a protein extraction from tissue but I'm wondering if it will worth it since I don't have much tissue available. I couldn't find how much proteins you get back from tissue extraction. I'm sure this can vary depending of the extraction protocol and the tissue but I was wondering if anyone had an average to give me?

Small tissue isn't necessarily a problem, depending on your application.

I use mechanical homogenization in RIPA lysis buffer on pieces of tissue between 1 and 2 mg and usually get about 80-100 micrograms of protein.
