Clostridia species selective media - help ? (Jun/17/2011 )

Dear All,

does anyone of you worked on selective medias for Clostridia species,
as Clostridia chauvoei & Clostridia novyi ?

or do you kindly know a company that sells such selective medias ?

would be grateful if anyone can help.

There are a few media out there for clostridia, but most are for the detection of clostridia botulinum from human feces or for others then the ones you want.

About Clostridia novyi, there are some papers on that, but they are very very old...

And I also would recomend to check with a veterinarian/vet-pathologist because I think you are looking for ruminant diseases?

For Clostridia chauvoei I have also attached some papers (nr 3 and 4), but you will need to look up 2 other papers that are refered to in the two papers I attached for the correct mediumpreperation.

Keep in mind the that the papers are old and esp for C. novyi the medium made by Moore back in the 60's is still used.

Also dont forget that its very very important to work anaerobically .. they die fast.. esp C.novyi
