Pre-cutting before staining - How long before staining can samples be cut? (May/23/2011 )

I am staining a practice sample today, however the samples were cut a few weeks ago. They have been on the slide at 4C ever since. Is this going to drastically affect the quality of the stain?

If it is paraffin slides, I will say "No".
