Laser failure problems with ABI 3730xl DNA Analyzer - (May/20/2011 )

Hey everyone!


So I have been having some intermittent issues with the laser in my ABI 3730xl DNA Analyzer. Every now and then, sometimes when I start the machine and sometimes during the middle of a run, the laser power drops to 0.0%. When this happens, it generally takes hours before the laser will turn back on.. I have changed the laser itself as well as the power supply for the laser. I even changed the air intake filter and have been running the machine with the front panel off to allow proper cooling during runs. I thought maybe that the power supply was overheating at some point cause it to close circuit dropping the laser power to 0.0%, but now I feel there might be something else on. The machine averages 3-5 plates per day which is not exactly overkill for this machine, I hear they can run 24-7 pretty much...

Anyone experience a laser failure of this nature?? I have attached a screenshot from the error message board..

Did you ever resolve this issue? I just experienced this for the first time. Not sure how to proceed. If you leave it alone will it eventually start up again and run the plate? Or do you need to prep a new plate for sequencing? I know it's a long shot since this post is from 5 years ago but hoping for the best!
