Use of bacteria in percious metal reclamination - (Apr/18/2011 )

HI World, my first posting.

I know probably a big ask.

I need some help.
I am looking at using bacteria to remove/fix percious metals from a solution and was wondering if this is possible and what bacteria I could use to obtain the results I require. I am looking at removeing gold, silver, platinum, and other from a contaminant ladfill.

Well hope to here from anyone out there.

Eum, check the paper in the attachment.

There are other papers about that subject. Try to search for yourself a bit.

Another example is Thiobacillus aquaesulis, its a bacteria found in mines and used for recovering copper etc... Not gold if I remember correctly.
But why do you need to know?

DO you simply need some information about this or?

What I am looking for is all the different speices of batceria that can be used to remove precious and heavy metals from a manufacutring process.

I would like to find around 6 or 7 different ones. Can any one help.

you should do a literature research yourself! There are lots of papers about this topic around- search for e.g. leaching AND heavy metal AND bacteria in google scholar gives you more than 20000 hits! I am sure you will find what you are looking for there.

Also try to search for fungi.....some of these have good leaching properties as well....
