Bleeding during i.p. injection - (Feb/25/2011 )

During IP injection, my mouse had a bit of bleeding. What does that mean? Will it die or is it going to mess up my experiment?

You hit a vein or artery... it was not correctly injected and it may affect the experiment. As to whether the animal will survive, it depends on how big an injury you did (e.g. did you hit the renal artery or a minor vein?) and what was being injected.

Rapamycin was injected. There was one small drop of blood, so may not be huge injury?

Now changes are big that its not a big problem.
However as bob said: the changes are that the experiment failed. Its possible you for example lost the antibioticum with the blood that got lost.

Anyway: normally there should be no blood when injecting the mouse.

As Bob said, you hit a vein during injection. It is not a big deal. You can stop it by applying pressure to the injection site for 10-20 seconds.
