How to reduce electrophoresis times - Impatient me needs faster results (Feb/23/2011 )
HI all,
On so many occasions, I have come across solutions to running your gels faster/ alternatives to slab gels etc etc. and now I dont even remember the names...
Basically, I am looking for something that will reduce electrophoresis time (ET) by a huge margin. I know there are pre-cast gels that reduce the ET to 15-20 mins. There is also something else, and does not even need a transilluminator. The only problem is, I dont remember the brand names.
All suggestions are welcome. (For all of those out there like me, send words that might even be remotely similar)
Thanks
Ameya
are you thinking of the e-gel system by invitrogen?
another option would be Elchrom's Origin.
And there's always the option to use Lithium borate buffer to have faster gels in normal gel chambers...

Yes something like this E gel. Would you know any other products, possibly cheaper alternatives.
I remember there was this system which had crimson red gels.
Thanks for your help.

I dont know.... have asked for a quote.... please dont tell me ONE. I will never get the system then...
+ (tears in my eyes)...
I'd appreciate it if you'd let us know... Looking over their web site, I had the sinking feeling it was one gel. The only indication I could find that it might not be was the description to the FlashGel DNA Starter Kit, which mentions it comes with "a pack of 1.2% DNA Cassettes"...
