adult cell culture - (Jan/20/2011 )

hi everybody
i want to start cell culturing in my lab. my aim is to do adult cell culturing from liver and pineal. since we work on birds which cannot be reared we cant get young birds. can anyone help how to start liver cell culturing maybe not maintained but if possible for 2 to 3 days. i also need some sugestions on the gradient seperation media.

I start to doing liver culture as well but mouse not bird so not sure how similar or how different it is.
Anyway, if you want to isolate only hepatocyte (which I do), you should do liver perfusion otherwise you will find combination of hepatocyte and epithlium cell from liver in your culture.
Also, you need to coat the flask with collagen 1 for hepatocyte culture. Medium is bit complicated so please refer the following paper.

But again this is for mouse, not sure it works for bird or not.
