Is Histone H1 suitable to check the purity of cytoplasm extracts? - (Sep/13/2010 )
Hello everyone,
I've read in this forum that some people use histone as a marker to check the purity of cytoplasmic extracts but I only saw references to histone H3. The problem is that the antibody that I have in my lab is for histone H1 and I read that this histone is present in the cytoplasm. So I would like to know if anyone has used anti-H1 to check for puryity of cytoplasmic extracts with success. My extracts are from a monocytic cell line (THP-1).
Thanks in advance

If it is found in the cytoplasm as well as the nucleus, it is not suitable for checking the fractionation.
