Opinion about LUX primers /D-LUX assay - What say you? (Jul/27/2010 )
Dear All,
Having read about Invitrogen's claim about D-LUX™ Gene Expression Assays, which they claim is the most sensitive, specific, and cost-effective detection method available for qPCR/qRT-PCR,
I was wondering is there anyone had any experience in it and please share your opinions here.
I also noticed that since Invitrogen merge/acquired Applied Biosystem, there wasn't any marketing push about LUX primers, especially in my country. Is it because TaqMan is still superior than LUX or is just for some business agreement. or maybe I'm just too sensitive.
Or is it because there are major flaws in LUX primer design which they discovered/reported (maybe i missed that article)?
Thanks.
OK Adrian, since nobody responded, I will although my response won't be very useful I'm afraid.
I used LUX in 2004 and they worked fine. I liked the idea of not using a probe like the TaqMan does.
I wouldn't say one is better than the other, the concept is simply different.
6 years later, we are back to Taqman though. Because I am not doing qPCR anymore and my colleague who does got her protocol from another colleague who uses TaqMan.

Hi Maddie,
I'm new to real-time PCR, and want to design an assay for end point detection.
Since you had done LUX before, is it possible I get your published paper from you so that I might use it as a reference?
Thanks
Adrian
I didn't publish it, sorry. I found at least one paper I had though. I tried to send it to you by email but it didn't work, so I'm going to attach it here temporarily (I apologize in advance to the moderators). Let me know when you have it and I'll delete the pdf.
Also, you should find more on PubMed.
Good luck.
Hi MAddie,
I just downloaded it. Thanks again and all the best to you.
Adrian
You're very welcome my dear.
