PEG Precipitation of IgM Antibodies - (May/05/2010 )

Hi,

I am considering precipitating an IgM antibody using PEG. I have seen several different protocols for PEG precipitation but they all use PEG 6000. We only have PEG 8000 in the lab, can I use this instead?

peg8000 is peg6000. it was renamed to more accurately reflect the average molecular weight of the polymer (or so said fisher scientific back in the early 80's).

so, you can use peg8000 as you would peg6000 (same concentrations, etc).

Thanks for the info.
