flagella stain - (Apr/28/2010 )

Hi! I want to stain flagella from Xhantomonas.
There is a protocol in which I have to make a solution with phenol 5% in water, AlKS2O8 and crystal violet in etoh.
My problem is that I don't know how to make phenol 5% in water.
Anyone can help me?
Is it just to melt 5 g phenol and mix them with 100 ml water? Does it really mix??
Can I prepare it from melted phenol equilibrated in water or tris?

Thanks a lot.

I would prepare in TE, otherwise the Phenol will degrade quickly. But I think to rember that you need to prepare the solutions fresh everytime....
