Little to no expression in one group, how to analyze this? - (Mar/15/2010 )
Hey,
I'm measuring the expression of a certain gene in my samples by RT-PCR. In one group, only one sample had a Ct-value, the other samples did not, or around 40 so I cant use that. But actually I expected that in that
group the expression of the gene would be really low or none.
But how do I process these data then? Do I just give these samples a value of 0?
Hope you can help me,
Thanks

Regardless of how you are analyzing your data, the fact that you got a Ct value of 40, or close to it, means that you got almost no expression, so taking 40 as a value of 0, or close to 0, is perfectly fine.
