anemia measurement protocols - (Feb/22/2010 )
Hello,
For school i need to measure a couple of blood samples for B12/B11/ferritine. I've been looking for a while but im having a hard time finding the protocols for it. Could someone tell me where i could find these protocols. Or give them to me if you have them.

These tests are run by immunoassay methods. Siemens, Roche, Beckman, Tosho and other companies have large imedical hospital laboratory instruments to measure these analytes. They have 'package inserts' which describe the method, provide some basic method comparision and performance data and also may cite a few references.
If you are going to run these tests you will need all the reagents and access to an instrument. If there is a manual test the protocol will come with the test kit.
correct me if I am wrong but you are not developing these tests...only going to run them?
If there is a medical hospital lab or POCT forum reader perhaps that person can forward you the PDF.

We are not going to do them in a automated machine, because its for school we need to do them in the school laboratory and do it manualy, so we see at first hand how the reaction goes. Im still a first year student;).
Thanks for correcting me i understand its strange to assume im not using an automated machine.
But your saying i should look for a site where the school could buy a manual test kit and it would have the protocol on it? ( new to this ).

I would suggest you:
1. obtain a protcol from one of the major instrument mfgs
2. compare that with one from a manual elisa test...if you can find one.
3. determine if you have an instrument to do the test (ie plate reader; spectrophotometer, pipettes etc) or
4. can observe someone running such a test at a local hospital or reference laboratory.
