Transport of miniprep - (Oct/05/2009 )

I want to send actually plasmid miniprep to some other city. i do know that DNA is quite stable but still my supervisor told me
to filter it and transport it on filter paper. What is the proper procedure to do that.I mean the the method how to filter it or is there any special filter paper etc for this purpose
and how to pack it ?

Cheers

If it is not eluted in TE, I would add TE, perhaps 2 volumes. Then draw a circle in pencil on filter paper and spot the DNA in the circle. 5 ul or so should do. The concentration should be in the 100 ng/ul or so range, but lower will work. You can let it dry and spot a second time over the first try to increase concentration. To transform, cut a small piece of the paper out, elute with water, and transform as normal.

Thank you very much. I assume it should be the normal filter paper? or Whatman or any other of specific pore size?
