Genomic DNA from Blood Kits - (Sep/24/2009 )

We are looking to isolate genomic DNA from human blood samples (200ul) and perform downstream sequencing reactions. Does anyone out there have any ideas of a reliable miniprep kit?

Looking at

Qiagen- QIAamp DNA Blood Mini Kit
Invitrogen - Dynabeads® DNA DIRECT™ Blood

Thanks

We are currently using Roche - High Pure PCR Template Preparation Kit for diagnostic procedures. It is very stable (batch to batch) and yields DNA good enough (purity and concentration) to perform downstream PCR or sequencing reactions. Miniprep kits are not souitable for Southern-blot.

Dynabeads DNA Direct Blood is a good alternative if you want to quickly isolate DNA for PCR reactions.

I think a better alternative for your sequencing application though would be our new DNA isolation technology which has a much higher sensitivity and yield: Dynabeads SILANE Genomic DNA.
This kit is fully scalable and from 200 µl human blood you can expect to isolate 5-6 µg of high quality gDNA.
