Selection AGAINST fungi - (Sep/23/2009 )

Dear all,

Usually medium with low pH is used to culture fungi but what if I need to do the opposite? Is there any medium I could use or any thing I could add to my medium to select against fungi?

Do you mean to prevent fungal contamination? An anti-fungal like fungizone should do the trick (of course, so would proper aseptic technique!!).

Why and which fungi do you want to exclude? Or what from which source do you want to isolate? So maybe you can give us more information?
For some fungi fungicides will do the trick, but others will still grow.....I think I mentioned it before but we had fungi growing in our acridineorange stock.....
