DMMB dye for GAG measurement in chondrogenesis - Is this method still being used? (Sep/15/2009 )
hi everyone,
i need a bit of help
i have been trying to track the level of chondrogenesis by measurement of GAG level
in the cells. i`ve read about the DMMB method, but.... but.... i found it hard
to get more recent information regarding the DMMB method,
all the things i have read seem to be old, i`d like to ask if anyone
know about the DMMB method? is it still being performed?
if i use a layer of GAG coating upon the culture dish, can i add DMMB into the medium to detect the GAG level?
can the GAG in the cells be secreted and released into the medium?
pls--- thnks a lot!!

Although this answer comes a little late, maybe it can help someone else:
A KIT using this method (really comfortable):

If the KIT is to expensive for you, use this paper:
"Improved and simple micro assay for sulfated glycosaminoglycans quantification in biological extracts and its use in skin and muscle tissue studies"
Isabelle Barbosa, Stéphanie Garcia, Véronique Barbier-Chassefière, Jean-Pierre Caruelle, Isabelle Martelly and Dulce Papy-García

Have fun ;-)
