Blue juice - Bromophenol blue or Bromophenol blue sodium salt (Sep/10/2009 )

I used to make my own DNA loading buffer using sucrose and bromophenol blue in Australia. Unfortunately I cannot recall which reganets I was using-Bromophenol blue or Bromophenol blue sodium salt?

Any advice appreciated!

The sodium salt will be easier to dissolve. But I think you should be using Orange G instead of Bromphenol Blue, since it runs at a more convenient place with respect to the DNA fragments.

My recipie for 6x loading dye:

1.6 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.6), 0.005 % bromophenol blue, 0.005 % xylene cyanol FF, 30 % glycerol, 10 mM EDTA

You can additionally add Orange G (0.005%), but we ran out of it and the other two dyes do the job as well
