Tris and cell toxicity - (Feb/14/2008 )
Hey guys,
I've read that Tris is a toxic polyamine, so i was just wondering what sort of an effect 10 mM Tris.HCl (common DNA buffer) would have on the toxicity of mammalian cells?
Cheers, Rob

Er, that's not a good idea, I tried it once and my cells just died in minutes ... nothing as PBS it's way better. Good luck!

I can't say anything about animal cells, but for e coli you will see growth retardation at about 1mM concentration.

What concentration killed your cells and what was the cell line aleruiz? I can't find anything on the net about this.

hi!
I can't remember the concentration... it was in mM range, maybe 10 mM (or 100?), but I can't remember and I'm not working in that lab anymore to check my notes
