quencher choice in real time pcr - (May/26/2005 )
What decides which quencher we should use for a dye/reporter?

Dear Season,
Hi me again : )
Do you have a table of excitation and emission of probes and another table for absoption maximum for quencher?
Refering to those table, a compatible reporter dye and quencher must have (reporter dye) emission maximum overlap with (quencher) absorption maximum.
Go to refer to Synthegene website, there are planty of information there.

Thanks!
for example BHQ-1™ has an Abs(max) 495 nm and has a Quenching range = 480-580 nm. do you think that i can still use a reporter dye that does not have emission that falls into the Abs(max) 495 nm of BHQ-1™ but into other values of its quenching range?
