mammalian expression vector - (Mar/23/2005 )

Dear all,

I'd like to ask something about mammalian expression vector. Why can I use a mammalian expression vector such as pcDNA3.1 to transfect and express my desired product in a fish cell line? As far as I know, fish is not mammal. But mammalian expression vector require a mammalian host, rite??

Thanks for the help^^

I don't know the specifics about that vector, but don't take 'mammalian' too seriously. They might've just named it that way because it is primarily used on mammalian cell lines, but fish cell lines aren't that different from mammalian cell lines in terms of gene expression.
