microccus - (Feb/14/2008 )
I work for a micobiology lab and we inoculate bottles with "bugs" then incubate them. bottles have sensors which turn yellow if positive we have results that show a TTD(time of detection). We are having problems with micrococcus luteus. I know that micrococcus is a slow growing but how can i get it to grow faster.

Doubling time of Micrococcus luteus is about a half an hour in the literature. I'm not familiar with your bottles and TTD sensors, but if you want more bugs faster, there is only so much you can do. You can inoculate more in the beginning, but if you are not getting reasonable increases in OD, I'd double check your media.
