we use new born or postnatal mice here to prepare SCG neurons for transfection. embryonic mice will mean we have to kill the mother and this is not an option here ![rolleyes.gif]()

However, I do think that PEI is not very effecient for SCG.![dry.gif]() i cant get repeatable results and dont like it. but to transfect with virus i need to clone my gene again into the virus genome right?

Kathy,
You will need to clone your gene into a viral vector and you will have to make the virus, it might not be the best option for you if you wish to complete your project within a short time (within a month).
i see. thank you Scolix!

Kathy ,
I read a paper where they have transfected hippocampal neurons 7 DIV using Qiagen's Effectene. May b its helpful.
