How do you fix a whole eye from a mouse? - Histology (Feb/21/2003 )

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone could give me a good protocol on how to fix a whole eye from a mouse. The eye tends to collapse during the fixation process. I am not sure if this is due to the fix or due to my technique. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I use karnovsky's fixative then after an hour i transfer them to 10% formalin. This procedure seems to work great. The way you fix also depends on what you plan on doing later on. What do you plan on doing with the fixed eyes?
