GRE help! - recommended study guides? (Dec/14/2006 )
If anyone has been through the dreaded GRE I could use your advice! I am unfamiliar with this exam as I am from the UK. I have started to read some of the prep books, and I understand the maths stuff. However when I take a practice exam i do terribly! I need a really good prep book, or online course that will help me. My Verbal section is a nightmare too and I dont even recognise alot of the vocab!
Any advice anyone??
please help!

i have utilized kaplan GRE workbooks.
vocabulary is really tough but u will get used to it. if u do not have much time, u can just try to guess the meaning of words by looking at roots, prefix or suffix. u need to differentiate which words mean something positive and which ones negative. i think it is hard to succeed in GRE verbal section but there are tips to improve your score. tips are also stated in kaplan's book and CD.
questions in quantitative section are traditional. u will also find necessary tips in kaplan's. there are more than 10 exams in cd. explanations of answers of all test questions are supplied. u will improve your scores. don't worry.
I also recommend the Princeton Review books. I like their tips for "cracking" the test. You probably don't have time to increase you knowledge of math or verbal, but you can improve your test taking skills and that makes a big difference.
