the thing u wanna research on.. - how do u decide;) (Dec/07/2006 )
heyyaaaaa!
i've done a lot of mol bio.. (my first love!) during my bachelor's.. some cell bio-dev bio during my master's.. and now m doing lots of proteins..
i havent got to a phd yet..
but the question is.. (rather questionS are..):
1. i've loved doing so much differnt research thru this time.. and i dont think i can choose one over the other. i like them.. so do i really wanna do a phd.. and choose one of them for say 5 years?
2. If yes.. how do i decide which one i like most.. of course there r so many things that i havent even explored yet!!
any1 going thru a similar thing?
or any1 has anything to suggest to me..?
thanks:)
It's almost 7 years after my Masters, I am working in the field of Biotech (in Industry) . I worked on Inflammation, Diabetes, Malaria, and Cancer. During this period I worked extensively in Cell and Molecular Biology but now not very sure which field I want to choose for making further career.
What do senior guys working in the field think? Any suggestions? I know most of you will have similar eperiences. Please share.
Thanks
The best advice I was given was to find something that interests you, so long as you are interested the the work will be OK. Having said that there will always be periods during any research project where it becomes boring or mundane. I would also suuggest avoiding a topic that will involve you doing the same technique over and over again for the duration of your project, that would get really boring.
i agree with bob. and also to solve the project which you take or to get some results, may include different kind of experiments, molecular proteomics etc....you just have to read and learn, and not to stick to one thing that you have done already.
