Would ExoI work? - Alternative nuclease for DNA digestion (Apr/17/2006 )

Did anyone try to use a different enzyme, instead of P1 for DNA digestion for total methyl cytosine quantification assays before?
I mean from what i read here, it sounds like, P1 works on single-stranded DNA, and so is ExoI and it is somewhat cheaper and more accessible than P1.

be sure to denature your DNA and then snap chill before adding your nuclease as this increases the liklihood of single stranded DNA for nuclease digestion.

I have seen ExoI being used as well and can't really see anything wrong with using it, we are using P1 btw.
