HLA typing using qPCR - looking for references (Mar/05/2006 )
Can anyone help me identify published references to conduct HLA typing of Human blood using real time PCR? Is it economical to perform the said experiments? I would highly appreciate any help!

I'm confused as to why you would pick qPCR for HLA typing. It seems like an expensive way to do a plus/minus assay. I can't think of why it wouldn't work, it would just be expensive. Especially when you can easily do a regular PCR reaction for a lot less money.

I agree with Jennifer, You would need a lot of single reactions and expensive Probesets. ABI has this low density array for there 384Cycler on the market for some years. I asked them if thy have planned to design a HLA testing Kit for this systhem. But till now they don't. I think this is a good and relative sheap alternative to the old fashioned testing kits on the marked yet.
