Affordable source of LB broth for e.coli storage? - (Jul/24/2015 )
I am currently looking for LB broth for use in storage of e.coli cells.
E-bay is my main source of supplies, and I see the price on LB broth is quite high.
Does anyone know of a suitable economical alternative?
Sincerely, N00b.
If you managed to get that autoclave, or have a means of sterilizing (e.g. pressure cooker), then it is cheapest to make yourself from the primary ingredients: Yeast extract, tryptone and NaCl.

Allright. Good thing you mentioned that. I've forgotten to order a pressure cooker. Will do that immediately.
EDIT: Will this work? Power Cooker.
look for a pressure cooker!
You can easly buy a cheaper one....
It does not need to be anything spectacular, a reguler (easy) pressure cooker is enough).

That is a pressure cooker.... I need something that doesnt cramp my lab's style too much, and this one looks fancy enough.
well its your money.. lol
I know its a pressure cooker, but it seems a bit fancy and expensive compared to the more simple ones.

Thanks!
However - the Tryptone is actually as expensive as pre-mixed LB broth powder, so right now I am considering just buying it pre-mixed.. 1kg.
Oh ok, yeah, maybe better to buy it premixed then.
