DNA dilution 1, 2, 4, 8, 10 X - (Jun/14/2015 )
Hi there,
I am new to lab techniques. I need to dilute my DNA to 1, 2, 4, 8, 10 X. I have total volume of 500ul and 5ng/ul.
Would be great if someone can explain how I should dilute it. The volume I would be needed 10 ul.
Thanks in advance,

The dilution series is wrong. It should be 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, 1:32 and 1:64
1:2 dilution means 1 part of substance : 2 part total.
Now, use the following formulae and calculate:
Move Volume = Final Volume / (DF -1)
Diluent Volume = Final Volume – Move Volume
Total Mixing Volume = Diluent Volume + Move Volume
