Immunocytochemistry in only a few wells of 12-well plate - (Nov/04/2013 )

I plan to do an ICC experiment and have cells grown and fixed on coverslips in a 12 well plate. However, I still have to optimize my primary antibodies.

It is possible to perform the ICC in only a few wells of the plate or I have to assay the whole plate? In other words would the cells, even though fixed, still be viable if I only use 6 of the wells instead of the whole 12-wells for example?

Thanks

You can use as many or as few wells as you like.  Once the cells are fixed, they should be fine for quite some time, though this is protein of interest, fixative and storage condition dependent.
